6 hours to build
Access was required to maintain an innovative creation called the ‘Green Wall’ at Trio Apartments in Camperdown.
This 'Green Wall' is a vertical landscape garden attached to the façade of the building. The facade needs to be accessed once a month for maintenance, and that's where Total Access Solutions came to the rescue.
With scaffolding or powered access not an option the only solution was a temporary swing stage set up.
We offered Frasers a full sales and labour package to solve the problem.
However, not only was there a tricky protruding ledge to the left of the wall there was also only one metre of roof area for us to put our roof beams - we normally require four to five metres.
We had to call in our expert team of engineers at Altrex in the Netherlands. They devised a 'davit arm' set up with heavy duty tie backs which worked perfectly. We also created a telescopic section of swing stage to telescope in and out of these areas as required. This got around the tricky protrusions.
Further services were required to deal with the additional weight of the 'davit arms'. This was ably dealt with by our Rope Access Division who assisted with the installation and dismantling and continue to provide the apartments with an emergency rope access service to assist with potential problems with the complex irrigation system.
"Stuart provided a practical and economic solution to ensure access was achieved to the Green Wall on the side of the building. The swinging stage was designed so that it was adjustable to suit the growing nature of the vertical garden, and the telescopic end of the stage enabled access to garden areas obstructed by the façade that could not have been accessed with conventional methods."
